Dr Joanne Martin

Dr. Joanne Martin brings a wealth of experience and dedication to MyLocalDoc Chermside: Menopause Clinic, with a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in general practice. A graduate with honours from the University of Queensland in 1988, she has achieved her fellowship with the RACGP in 1993, showcasing her commitment to excellence in healthcare. Dr Joanne has a comprehensive background in various aspects of general practice, with a profound interest in women's health, including sexual health, contraception, perimenopause, and menopause. She is a valued member of the Australasian Menopause Society, actively engaging in ongoing education to stay at the forefront of menopausal care.
Dr Joanne is adept at managing all facets of perimenopause and menopause, offering a range of treatments from Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT) and non-hormonal therapies to psychological support and lifestyle modifications such as nutrition and exercise. Furthermore, her dedication to healthcare is evident in her continued work with remote Indigenous communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory, contributing significantly for over a decade.

Dr Karen Yew
Medical Practitioner, Female, MBBS

Dr Karen Yew is a Specialist GP in women's health. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2012 and completed her general practice training in Rockhampton. She developed a passion for women's health whilst working in the Sunshine coast. There, she began to specialise in contraception, fertility and menstrual disorders. In recent years, she has become more interested in the management of menopause and the concept of healthy aging. Dr Karen has been an Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) member since 2022 and has attended every annual conference to keep abreast of the latest news. Dr Karen believes in listening to her patients and individualising healthcare to their needs. She is available for a full range of women's health procedures including Implanon insertions and removals, all types of IUD insertions and removals (including copper) and iron infusions.
In her free time, Dr Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children. Originally from Singapore, she is fluent in Mandarin and is happy to consult in it.
